WHAT READERS ARE SAYING
Read on Smashwords“It’s More Than a Dance! This is the true Cultural Journey of Salsa. This is more than a book about dance. It traces Salsa as a cultural journey linking Africa, Cuba, Puerto Rico, New York, Asia, and the wider world. I especially appreciated the focus on the African roots of the rhythms and drums, and on the many cultural influences that shaped Salsa over time.”
“A great read, from a true master of salsa and tropical dances.”

Salsa as world heritage
A GLOBAL INITIATIVE BEGINS
On 21 July 2026, the AsiAfrica Foundation formally opened an initiative advocating for the recognition and safeguarding of Salsa as intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Correspondence presenting the historical and cultural case was addressed to UNESCO’s Director-General and Living Heritage Secretariat.
The initiative grows from the Salsa History Project developed by the AsiAfrica Foundation and SALSA CONCEPT®, and from two decades of work tracing Salsa’s journey from African roots through Cuba, New York, Asia and the world.
The campaign advocates for future consideration and safeguarding. It does not state or imply that UNESCO has endorsed, approved, recognized or listed the book or the initiative.
